Things To Bring With You When You Travel

#Set aside a table or area where you put everything. Ideally, add it a suitcase the moment you think of it.

Many things you will want 2 or more of (try to have a backup)

Car

□ Battery charger

□ Car jumper cables

□ CDs/Tapes (music)

□ Extra key which you keep in your wallet (which always stays with you, in your front pocket).

□ Flares

□ Flat tire repair foam

□ Gas can

□ Oil. Quart of oil

□ Radiator fluid.

□ Warning sign

□ Water (in case of radiator problems).

□ Winshield Wiper fluid (load it to the brim)

Clothing

□ Backpack

□ Ear muffs

□ Gloves

□ Hats and/or caps, knit hats (beanie)

□ Jacket Rain coat

□ Laundry bag and detergent

□ Shirts and t-shirts

□ Shoes, boots and sandals (shower sandals, etc.)

□ Shorts

□ Socks

□ Sweaters

□ Underwear/long johns

Cooking and Cleaning Supplies

□ Aluminum foil

□ Bags. Plastic bags. Trash bags.

□ Camping stove/grill.

□ Can/bottle opener

□ Coffee pot (plugs into car cigarette lighter)

□ Cooking pots and pans

□ Cooking utensil set (spoons, tongs, knives, spatulas, measuring cup)

□ Cooler and ice (ice pack)

□ Dish detergent

□ Dishes: Cups, plates

□ Fire extinguisher

□ Firewood and kindling

□ Flint stone to start fires.

□ Fuel. Canned heat (heat cannister). Have a few cans.

□ Matches in a waterproof container

□ Plastic wrap

□ Potholders and/or oven mitts

□ Beverages: Coke, water, coffee (instant), tea, cocoa, beer, wine

□ Bread. Buy a fresh loaf of french bread on the road (not sliced but the unsliced). Buy some cream cheese on the road for your bread.

□ Canned (ham, potatoes

□ Cereal (hot and cold)

□ Chips

□ Chocolate/candy bar

□ Condiments (sugar, salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, etc.)

□ Cooking oil (olive oil – also use for ears if stuffed)

□ Fruit and vegetables

□ Gum

□ Juice (2 liter bottle frozen)

□ Macaroni

□ Noodles. Top Ramen

□ Peanut butter and jelly

□ Soup packs

□ Trail mix in tupperware container.

Personal Care – Medical, etc

□ Allergy pills

□ Bandages. Bandaids. Sterile adhesive bandages in different sizes. Gauze rolls. Adhesive tape

□ Bags. Have 2 bags for the shower. Put new clothes in one bag and use the other to put old clothes in.

□ Bug repellent. Citronella candles (to repel mosquitoes)

□ Cologne. Helps invigorate.

□ Combs and brushes

□ Cotton swabs

□ Cough drops. Soar throat, too.

□ Deodorant and female hygiene products

□ Eye drops/artificial tears

□ First Aid Kit. First aid manual (human and pet)

□ Gloves (latex)

□ Hair gel. Helps invigorate.

□ Headache (Advil, etc.)

□ Lip balm/Chapstick

□ Lotion. Face cream (moisturizer). Lotion for insect bites, itches and rashes (including something like Gold Bond and/or Cortizone for itching). Petroleum jelly or other lubricant

□ Meat tenderizer (bee stings)

□ Mouthwash

□ Needle

□ Neosporin (cuts)

□ Nyquil

□ Prescriptions

□ Razors and shaving cream

□ Rubbing alcohol. Hydrogen peroxide

□ Shampoo

□ Snakebite kit

□ Soap in plastic containers. Consider bath that you can wash your body and hair so you don't have to bring shampoo.

□ Stomach (Tums, etc.)

□ Sunblock (Waterproof sunscreen with SPF 20 or higher). Err to more than normal (you don't want a sunburn on a trip!) (Noxema aint bad).

□ Sunburn lotion

□ Toilet seat covers (paper) so you are safer in public restrooms.

□ Toothbrushes, toothpaste and dental floss

□ Towels. Toilet paper. Towelettes/Antiseptic wipes. Paper towels. Baby wipes. Keep a roll of toilet paper under your car seat at all times.

□ Vitamins (you might not eat as well)

Pet

□ Food. Goodies for good behavior.

□ Leash. Including a pole you screw in the ground and attach the dog leash to.

□ Medication

□ Poop bags

□ Safety vest

Shelter/bed

□ Air cleaner (if you will stay at hotels and motels).

□ Blanket and sheet. Space blanket.

□ Eye mask (otherwise you might wake up too early)

□ Sleeping bags and underneath pads or cot

□ Tarp. One slightly smaller than tent.

□ Tent stakes

□ Tent. Outdoor, car tent.
